HOUSTON — A woman is suing the contractors she hired for her kitchen remodel claiming they provided defective construction and abandoned the project.

Deborah Barrash filed a complaint July 23 in Harris County District Court against Designer Kitchen and Bath Corporation, Four Points Construction Corporation doing business as Designer Kitchen & Bath and David J. Leva alleging breach of contract, fraud and violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act.

Barrash alleges in her suit that she entered into a contract with the defendants on Oct. 18, 2020, for a kitchen remodel on her home on Cannogate Drive in Houston. She claims the contract price was $96,000 and that she has made payments totaling $75,600, with much of the work remaining incomplete and needing "substantial repair." Barrash further claims the project was slated to be complete by Dec. 19, 2020, but "at the last minute," DKB extended the date to March 9, 2021, and still never completed the project.

She alleges the work that was done was "substandard and defective" including improperly installed custom cabinets, improper sizing and installation and blocking of the drop ceiling and improperly installed pantry shelving. Barrash claims due to the defendant's abandoning of the project, she was forced to hire other contractors to fix and complete the kitchen remodel.

Barrash seeks monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Sanford Dow and Alexandra Wolf of  Dow Golub Remels & Gilbreath PLLC in Houston.
