HOUSTON — A plumbing company is facing a suit after one of its employees was struck in the eye by an object and lost vision in his eye while performing digging work on a project.

Leonel Corea filed a complaint July 23 in Harris County District Court against Jerry Williams, individually and doing business as William Plumbing Services alleging negligence.

Corea was working for Williams Plumbing on July 25, 2019, according to his complaint. He alleges that as he was doing digging on a project, he was struck in the eye by an object ultimately lost vision in the eye.

Corea claims he was asked to work in an unsafe area and was not given proper safety gear. He further claims that he not only suffered vision loss in his eye, he also suffered injuries to his hand, impairment and disfigurement, lost wages and incurred medical care expenses.

Corea also claims the defendant failed to keep an "employee safe from harm" and knew or should have known he could "suffer harm due to the circumstances."

Corea seeks monetary relief of more than $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Ryan Grant of Trimble & Grant PLLC in Houston.
