HOUSTON — A suit alleges the spouse of a former chemical company worker developed Mesothelioma due to her years of exposure to her husband's clothing which contained asbestos fibers.
Connie Lynn Margraves, individually and as independent executor on behalf of the heirs and Estate of Bonnie Lou Dotson, deceased and Glenda Lou Henry filed a complaint July 23 in Harris County District Court against Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC doing business as CP Chem Company LLC, ConoCoPhillips Company, Monsanto Company, The Dow Chemical Company and others alleging negligence, products liability, conspiracy, premises liability and other claims.
The plaintiffs allege in their complaint that Bonnie Dotson was exposed to asbestos-containing products and equipment and machinery that called for the use of asbestos-containing products "for a period of many years" during her marriage to Ernest Dotson who worked as a contractor for the defendants.
The plaintiffs claim that between 1956 and 1976, Dotson's husband's work for the defendants caused him to work in and around asbestos and asbestos-containing products which he then brought home through fibers on his clothing.
They allege through her laundering of her husband's clothing, Dotson was exposed to, inhaled and ingested asbestos which resulted in her developing Mesothelioma. The plaintiffs claim the defendants failed to warn her or her husband of the health hazards and "distorted the results" of workers' medical exams who had been exposed to asbestos.
The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented b y Taryn Ourso, Kathryn Pryoer and Laura Cabutto of Baron & Budd PC in Dallas.
