HOUSTON — An African American man alleges he suffered race and age discrimination while working at a Houston-based brokerage firm.

Shaun M. Taylor filed a complaint July 26 in Harris County District Court against Frost Brokerage Services Inc., alleging race, national origin and age discrimination.

Taylor, an African American male who was 56 years old at the time, began working as a financial advisor for Frost Brokerage Services in September of 2019. He alleges he was the only black advisor at the firm and was older than his colleagues and faced "additional scrutiny," racist and culturally insensitive remarks and did not receive the promised ongoing training and administrative support and had to learn his job "through trial and error."

Taylor further alleges that his white/non-black coworkers were given coaching, training and received less severe consequences for their errors. Taylor received a Notice of Right to Sue from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in April of 2021.

Taylor seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Jennifer Farrar of Farrar Law PLLC in Tomball.
