Woman injured by faulty banner stand at Houston Avis Budget Car Rental, suit claims

HOUSTON — A woman is alleging she suffered injuries from a faulty banner stand base while waiting in line at an Avis Budget Car Rental in Houston. 

Valerie Barton filed a complaint July 25 in Harris County District Court against Avis Budget Group Inc., and Avis Budget Car Rental LLC alleging liability and negligence. 

Barton alleges that she was renting a vehicle at the Avis Budget Car Rental on Palmetto Pines in Houston on July 25, 2019, and suffered injuries while in line caused by a faulty base on a banner stand. 

She claims her injuries include pain, anxiety, mental anguish and has also incurred medical expenses. Barton alleges the defendant's negligence for failing to conduct its business in a safe and reasonable manner and for failing to discover and remove the faulty banner in a reasonable amount of time. 

Barton seeks monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Christopher Brown of The Brown Law Group PLLC in Houston.
