HOUSTON — A crew member working aboard a Fugro Marine vessel claims improper equipment and work procedures led to his shoulder injury.

Joshua Myers filed a complaint Aug. 12 in Harris County District Court against Fugro (USA) Marine Inc., and Fugro Gulf Inc., alleging negligence and unseaworthiness.

According to Myers' complaint, he was a crew member on the defendants' Hugin Explorer vessel on April 15, 2020. He alleges that while attempting to repair the "umbilical cord of the launch and recovery system for the vessel's remotely operated vehicle," he suffered serious injuries to his shoulder.

Myers claims the "process and equipment" used to do his work was inadequate and alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to maintain and operate the vessel. He also claims the defendants failed to train and supervise their employees or have appropriate procedures for performing work which made the vessel unseaworthy. Myers alleges he also suffered mental anguish, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of his injuries.

Myers seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Scott Armstrong and Joshua Lee of Armstrong & Lee LLP in Houston.
