HOUSTON — A woman alleges she suffered a fall at a Houston China Star restaurant and that employees witnessed other previous accidents caused by the same dangerous condition.

Marisela Candanoza filed a complaint Aug. 14 in Harris County District Court against Northline China Star Inc., alleging premises liability and negligence.

Candanoza alleges in her complaint that he was at the China Star restaurant on North Freeway in Houston on Oct. 2, 2019. She alleges that as she was walking through the restaurant to get food, she slipped and fell on "substance left standing on the floor" and "forcefully hit the ground."

Candanoza claims she suffered pain, mental anguish and loss of earning capacity as a result of the fall. She alleges in her suit that customers notified China Star of the dangerous condition and that their employees "actually witnessed" accidents caused by the dangerous condition at the store and other China Star stores across the country with similar designs. Candanoza claims China Star's negligence for failing to inspect and maintain its premises in a safe condition.

Candanoza seeks monetary relief of between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Jeffrey Todd of The Todd Law Group PLLC in Houston.
