HOUSTON — A woman who was shopping at a Houston Cash America Pawn when an unsecured ladder fell on top of her is claiming negligence and premises liability.

Nakia Edwards filed a complaint Aug. 14 in Harris County District Court against Cash America Inc., Cash America Pawn LP doing business as Cash America Pawn of Houston and doing business as Cash America Pawn of Houston #33 alleging premises liability and negligence.

Edwards was shopping at the Cash America Pawn store on Highway 249 in Houston on Feb. 13, 2020, according to her suit. She alleges that while shopping for a lawn mower, a "large unsecured ladder" fell on top of her and struck her head, neck, back, arm and hand.
