HOUSTON —  A woman is suing the owners of a Houston apartment complex alleging dangerous and poorly lit stairs caused her fall and injuries.

Earline Jones filed a complaint Aug. 14 in Harris County District Court against Hettig Management Corp., alleging negligence.

Jones claims she suffered serious, permanent and disabling injuries on March 3, 2020, while at the Concord at Gulfgate on Tanner Park Court in Houston which is owned by the defendant. Specifically, Jones claims as she was walking down the stairs, she suddenly tripped and fell due to "inadequate lighting and dangerous steps."

She alleges as a result of the fall, she suffered physical pain, impairment, lost earnings and incurred medical, hospital and medication expenses. Jones further alleges Hettig's negligence for allowing the dangerous condition to exist and for failing to warn of the hazard. She also alleges the defendant failed to adequately hire, train, supervise and manage its employees "for the safety" of their property.

Jones seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Jeffrey Todd of The Todd Law Group PLLC in Houston.
