HOUSTON — A NASA Airline Center worker who suffered serious injuries while sawing wood claims he was not given any training or safety equipment prior to his accident.

Everardo Flores Garcia filed a complaint Aug. 15 in Harris County District Court against Nasa Airline Center Enterprises LLC alleging negligence and other claims.

Garcia was working for Nasa Airline Center on a remodeling project at its premises on Highway 45 North and Airline Drive on July 9, 2020, according to his complaint. He alleges he was "told" to cut wood pieces without having any training on how to use the saw, which caused him severe injuries.

Garcia claims the defendant was negligent for allowing him to handle machinery which posed an unreasonable risk of harm, failed to provide him with proper personal protective equipment or warn him of the risk of harm. He further claims that due to the accident, he suffered pain, impairment, disability and disfigurement as well as mental anguish and lost wages. Garcia also claims he incurred medical and therapeutic expenses as a result of his injuries.

Garcia seeks monetary relief or more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Muhammad Aziz and Alicia Roberson of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner in Houston and Shane Pellerin of The Shane Pellerin Law Firm PC in Pasadena.
