HOUSTON — An auto repair shop customer alleges a mechanic lowered a car lift onto his foot and caused him to suffer serious injury.

Matthew Reyes filed a complaint Aug. 18 in Harris County District Court against GSSD Investments LLC doing business as Drivers Auto Repair alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the suit, Reyes was having repairs done to his car at Drivers Auto Repair on West Lake Houston Parkway in Humble on Aug. 20, 2019. He alleges that the defendant's mechanics could not find his locking lug nut remover and asked the mechanic to lower the lift so he could get the tool out of his glove box.

Reyes claims that the mechanic was not paying attention and did not stop lowering the lift which then went down and crushed his foot and caused a fracture to his right toe. He alleges the defendant's negligence for failing to properly train their employees, failing to monitor the garage area for the safety of customers and failing to warn of the dangerous condition. Reyes claims he has suffered impairment and has incurred medical care expenses as a result of the defendant's negligence.

Reyes seeks monetary relief of less than $250,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Scott Davenport of The Davenport Law Firm PC in Houston.
