HOUSTON — A Houston apartment complex resident alleges the light fixture in his kitchen came off the ceiling and fell on him and caused him to suffer injuries.

James Jordan filed a complaint Aug. 17 in Harris County District Court against Westbury Reserve Owner LLC, and others alleging negligence.

Jordan was in his apartment at the Westbury Reserve Apartments on Fondren Road in Houston on Oct. 21, 2019, which are owned, managed and operated by the defendants, according to his suit. He alleges that while in the kitchen, the light fixture came off of the ceiling, struck him and caused him to suffer injuries.

Jordan claims the defendants were negligent in failing to provide him a safe place to live and for allowing a dangerous condition to exist. He further claims the defendants failed to perform adequate or regular inspections of the premises to ensure its safety or properly train its employees on proper inspection of the apartment complex. Jordan alleges the defendants also failed to warn him or reduce or eliminate the risk which caused him to suffer pain, disability, mental anguish, loss of earnings and to incur medical bills.

Jordan seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Richard Nava of The Nava Law Group PC in Bellaire.
