Security guard at Houston complex hit by car and shot, sues employer for not making premises safe

HOUSTON — A man working security at a Houston apartment complex is claiming negligence after being hit by a car, pinned in and shot while on duty. 

Mark Harrison filed a complaint Aug. 30 in Harris County District Court against AMG Cityview Apartments LLC alleging negligence. 

According to Harrison's complaint, he was working security at the Crescent Cityview Apartments on Glenborough Drive in Houston on Jan. 8, 2021. He alleges that during his shift, he was hit by a car, pinned against a supply container and shot. 

Harrison claims he has suffered physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, impairment, lost wages and incurred medical expenses. 

He alleges the defendant's negligence for failing to make its premises reasonably safe and failure to have additional security. Harrison also alleges the defendant's negligent hiring and retention of its security personnel. 

Harrison seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by M. Paul Skrabanek of Pierce Skrabanek PLLC in Houston.
