HOUSTON — A man who allegedly suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling on the floor while using a step exercise box is claiming products liability.
Matthew Thomas Roberts filed a complaint Sept. 20 in Harris County District Court against Titan Brands Inc., and Titan Manufacturing & Distributing Inc..
Roberts ordered the defendants' portable foam Plyometric Box used for cross training, aerobic exercises or physical therapy, according to his suit. He alleges that while attempting to use the Plyo Box on March 10 for jump exercises, the instability of the box caused his feet to roll when he landed on top of the box and fell backward.
Roberts claims he hit his head on the floor and suffered a traumatic brain injury and alleges the defective design of the box caused his fall and injuries. Specifically, Roberts claims the design of the box is too small and did not provide a large enough landing area or stability.
Roberts seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Donald Kidd, Jim Perdue, Jr., and Adam Blake of Perdue & Kind in Houston and Attorney Alvin Adjei in Houston.
