HOUSTON — A tenant alleges a failure to fix a water leak in her apartment unit led to her slip and fall.

Korina Dickerson filed a complaint Sept. 30 in Harris County District Court against Equality Community Housing Corporation alleging negligence.

Dickerson was at her apartment complex on Aug. 14, 2021, according to her complaint. She alleges that she had reported water damage in her apartment unit to the defendant who failed to repair the leak.

Dickerson claims she slipped in water from the leak which caused her to fall and suffered injuries including lost wages, physical impairment and disfigurement and incurred medical treatment expenses.

She alleges the defendant did not maintain the premises, including the floor and walkways, in a reasonably safe condition and failed to inspect the premises. Dickerson further alleges the defendant failed to warn of the dangerous condition which caused her to fall and suffer injuries.

Dickerson seeks monetary relief of no more than $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Nathan Maurer of The Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
