HOUSTON — A woman who was injured by a defective metal gate at a self storage facility is claiming negligence.

Maria Alvarez filed a complaint Oct. 4 in Harris County District Court against 14365 South Post Oak Road LTD doing business as South Post Oak Self Storage and 14365 South Post Oak Road Management LLC alleging negligence.

According to Alvarez's complaint, she was on the defendants' property on March 6, 2021. She claims that while on the property, a large metal gate fell on her and caused her to suffer severe and debilitating injuries including disfigurement, impairment, lost wages and to also incur medical expenses.

Alvarez alleges the defendants' negligence for faulty and unsafe maintenance of the area and for failing to give adequate warnings about the dangerous condition. She also alleges the defendants failed to remedy the unsafe condition and take reasonable measures to make the conditions safe.

Alvarez seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by M. Andrew Seerden of The Seerden Law Firm PLLC in Houston and Attorney Michael Pohl in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
