HOUSTON — A crane operator claims failure to shut down a work site during snowy and icy weather caused her slip and fall.

Emma Brown filed a complaint Oct. 11 in Harris County District Court against Wood Group USA Inc., alleging negligence.

Brown was hired as a crane operator to work on a wind turbine project in Kingman, Kansas, according to her complaint. She alleges that while  working at the project site on Dec. 13, 2020, snow and ice caused hazardous conditions on the site which led to her and other crew members attempting to get a crane unstuck from ice and mud.

Brown claims she was then instructed to drive the crane to another site during night time with slippery ice and snow which caused her to slip on the deck of the crane and fall to the ground. She alleges the defendant's failed to take precautionary measures such as following standard policy to shut the site down. Brown also claims Wood Group failed to use proper equipment, lighting or to properly train their employees.

Brown seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Anthony Buzbee, Ryan Pigg, Cornelia Brandfield-Harvey and Mauricio Guevara of The Buzbee Lawn Firm in Houston.
