HOUSTON — An worker alleges inadequate training and staffing at an Amazon warehouse in Harris County caused his back injuries.

Chinonso Ezeiruaku filed a complaint Oct. 15 in Harris County District Court against Amazon Com Services LLC alleging negligence.

Ezeiruaku began working as a stower at Amazon's package-handling/distribution warehouse in Harris County on Aug. 7, 2019, according to his suit. He claims that in November of 2019, he told his supervisors that his job duties were causing him to have back pain and was switched to a "VRC and water spider" operator position.

The plaintiff claims that he still was required to occasionally do the stower job duties even though Amazon was aware it aggravated his injuries. He also claims he performed the VRC and water spider position duties by himself, even though Amazon polices required the work be done by at least two people.

Ezeiruaku alleges Amazon's negligence for failing to provide a safe work environment and necessary training or providing the adequate number of employees for him to perform his hob. He also alleges Amazon failed to give him adequate medical treatment.

Ezeiruaku seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Andrew Traub of The Traub Law Office PC in Austin.
