HOUSTON — An Aldi customer alleges she slipped on a wet substance and suffered severe injuries at one of its Harris County stores.

Maria Martinez filed a complaint Nov. 10 in Harris County District Court against Aldi Inc., alleging negligence.

Martinez, according to her complaint, was at an Aldi store in Harris County on Dec. 7, 2019. She claims that as she was walking down the isle, she slipped and fell on a "wet substance" on the floor and suffered severe injuries including disfigurement, impairment, mental anguish and also claims she suffered lost wages and incurred medical expenses. She claims Aldi's negligence for failing to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition and for failing to inspect the premises. Martinez also claims Aldi failed to correct the condition and take reasonable measures to safeguard those on their premises and did not warn of the dangerous condition. She also alleges Aldi failed to properly train its employees.

Martinez seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Thomas Bickham, Jr., and David Swick of Bickham Law in Houston.
