HOUSTON — A woman alleges she tripped while wearing slippers provided to her at a nail salon and suffered injuries.

Beverly Duff filed a complaint Nov. 9 in Harris County District Court against Nails of America Baytown alleging negligence.

Duff alleges in her complaint that she was at the Nails of America Baytown on Garth Road on Dec. 6, 2020. She claims that an employee "insisted" that she wear the slippers they provided on her feet and that when she got up to walk to the back of the salon, she tripped over the end of the slipper and fell.

Duff alleges as a result of her fall, she suffered pain, mental anguish, impairment, loss of earnings and incurred medical expenses. She claims Nails of America's negligence for failing to maintain its premises, failing to inspect the premises where a dangerous condition existed and failing to take reasonable measures to safeguard those on the premises. She also clams Nails of America failed to warn of the hazard.

Duff seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Frederick McGuire of The Law Offices of Frederick McGuire in Liberty.
