HOUSTON — A Dillard's employee claims she slipped on a cleaning substance that was left on the floor of the store and suffered injuries.

Kendra Jones filed a complaint Nov. 15 in Harris County District Court against Dillard's Inc., doing business as Dillard Department Stores Inc., alleging negligence.

Jones was working at the Dillard's Store on FM 1960 Road West in Houston on Oct. 12, 2021, according to her suit. She claims as she was taking boxes of shoes to the storeroom, she slipped on a "slick cleaning solution" that was on the concrete floor and suffered severe injuries.

Jones alleges negligent supervision of Dillard's subcontractors and employees and claims they failed to protect her against work-related hazards.

She also claims Dillard's failed to provide a safe work environment and their negligence in the hiring and retention of their employees. Jones alleges she suffered impairment, disfigurement and incurred medical expenses due to her slip and fall.

Jones seeks monetary relief of more than $75,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Savannah John of The Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
