HOUSTON — Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown water park is facing a suit after a leak of pool treatment chemicals caused several visitors to suffer injuries.
Rebecca Ware, individually and as next friend of her minor child D.U., and others filed a complaint Nov. 15 in Harris County District Court against Six Flags Splashdown LLC doing business as Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown alleging negligence and premises liability.
According to their complaint, the plaintiffs were at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown water park in Spring on July 17, 2021. They allege that while at the waterpark, a "massive" chemical leak caused their exposure to hypochlorite and sulfuric acid that were used to treat the swimming pool water.
Ware alleges Six Flags failed to warn of the chemical in a "timely fashion," failed to properly store the chemicals and did not properly supervise and train its employees. The plaintiffs further allege Six Flags failed to properly secure the area after the leak, did not follow industry standards and failed to correct or remedy the "dangerous situation."
They claim as a result of their exposure to the chemical leak, they suffered severe injuries, pain, impairment, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses.
The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by George Oginni and John Leo of Leo & Oginni Trial Lawyers PLLC in Houston.
