Man attacked by intoxicated individual while walking down the street, suit alleges

HOUSTON — A man who was allegedly attacked by an intoxicated individual while walking his son down the street is claiming negligence. 

Juan M. Navejar filed a complaint Dec. 7 in Harris County District Court against Cody Wade Carrell and Kay Shiflett alleging negligence. 

Navejar was walking his son to a relative's home on June 19, 2021, according to his complaint. He alleges that as he was passing by Shiflett's home on the sidewalk in front of the house, he was attacked by Carrell who was intoxicated. Navejar claims he suffered a closed head injury, abrasions to his scalp, cheek, chest, forearm and knee and an anterior chest wall muscle strain, injury to his ribs as well as a human bite to his scalp. 

He also claims he suffered injury to his lower back and had to seek medical treatment for his injuries, has been unable to work and has suffered lost wages. 

Navejar seeks monetary relief of $250,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Caldwell Fletcher of Caldwell Fletcher PC in Houston.
