Steptoe & Johnson PLLC issued the following announcement on Dec. 17.
Peter M. Anastopulos has joined the business department of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC as a Member. His practice will focus on the areas of corporate and tax law from the firm’s Collin County office located in Plano, Texas.
“Steptoe & Johnson is committed to growing our presence in the Dallas area by offering specialized services to corporate clients, particularly in the area of taxation,” said firm CEO Christopher L. Slaughter. “Peter is part of an ambitious team of lawyers who address the federal and state tax needs of clients in the for-profit and tax-exempt areas. His skills in finding solutions for clients in and out of the courtroom will be valuable as we continue to expand in Dallas and beyond.”
Anastopulos represents businesses and individuals involved in federal civil and criminal tax disputes. He advises clients faced with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) actions including audits, litigation, investigations, and collection matters. He also defends clients in tax proceedings before the U.S. Tax Court as well as federal and bankruptcy courts. In addition to his tax experience, Anastopulos advises individuals on estate planning matters to minimize tax liability and limit the potential for scrutiny by the IRS.
Anastopulos earned his Juris Doctor and his Master of Law in taxation degrees from the University of San Diego School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Methodist University.
