HOUSTON — A worker alleges he was illegally fired after suffering a broken hip disability from a car accident.

Mohamad Altabari filed a complaint against ACS Industrial Services Inc., alleging violation of the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act (TCHRA).

Altabari claims in his suit that he was hired as the financial controller for ACS Industrial on April 5, 2021. He alleges that prior to his starting the position, he was involved in a "serious" vehicle accident and suffered a broken hip.

Altabari further alleges that when he arrived for his first day, his boss was "visibly" upset and that on April 13, 2021, he was asked to work from home to accommodate his injured hip and told to come back to the office the following week.

He claims as he drove home from the office, on April 13, he received a phone call informing him he was fired for "not being a good fit." Altabari also claims he was given no detailed explanation for his termination and he was discriminated against due to his disability and that ACS violated the TCHRA.

Altabari seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Charles Sturm of Sturm Law PLLC in Houston.
