Woman trips on mat at Family Dollar, sues

HOUSTON — A woman claims she tripped on a mat at Family Dollar Store in Galena Park and suffered injuries. 

Tina Baldwin filed a complaint  Feb. 7 in Harris County District Court against Family Dollar Stores of Texas LLC alleging negligence. 

Baldwin was at the Family Dollar Store on Clinton Drive in Galena Park on Jan. 15, according to her complaint. She alleges that as she was walking out of the exit, she tripped on a mat, fell and suffered injuries to her back, hands and knees. 

Baldwin claims the defendants were negligent for failing to maintain the floors and walkways, failing to inspect its premises or take steps to safeguard the premises. 

She also claims the defendant's negligence for filing to warn of the dangerous condition and that as a result of her fall, she also suffered impairment, disfigurement, loss of earning capacity and incurred medical expenses. 

Baldwin alleges the defendant failed to act as a "reasonably prudent premise owner." 

Baldwin seeks monetary relief of no more than $250,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Jonathan Webster of The Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
