HOUSTON — A construction worker alleges a poorly trained and unsupervised crane operator at a job site in Galveston caused an AC unit to fall on him.

Reeko Valdez and Erika Valdez filed a complaint Jan. 6 in Harris County District Court against The Hunton Group, HDP LTD, Hunton Services, HT Financial Corp and Palisade Palms Interests LLC alleging negligence.

Valdez was working for Consolidated Crane & Rigging at the Palisade Palms Condos in Galveston on Oct. 1, 2021, according to his suit. He alleges that an air conditioning unit fell on him while he was working at the job site and crushed his skull and upper body.

He further alleges the accident occurred due to the defendants' failure to have qualified and properly trained people operating the crane. He claims the defendants failed to supervise the crane operator or to properly inspect, repair and maintain the crane.

Valdez alleges as a result of the accident, he suffered internal injuries, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses.

Valdez seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Daniel Dutko of Rusty Hardin & Associates LLP in Houston.
