A man from Harris County has filed a complaint against a tire company in connection with an alleged explosion that harmed him, according to current Harris County District Court documents.

Nick's Tire Shop LLC is being sued by Jose Munzon, who claims the company is responsible for major burns he received when a chemical bottle that was on the premises caught fire and burst, inflicting serious burns on his body.

"The Incident was proximately caused by the Defendant's carelessness and gross negligence in establishing a situation on the premises that constituted an undue risk of injury to visitors," the court said.

The lawsuit states that the incident occurred on May 30, 2020, at the defendant's place of business on 9711 Jensen Dr. in Houston.

Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that the tire business "was aware of or should have been aware of the dangerous condition" and failed to rectify it or notify consumers of the danger it posed.

"Such negligence was the proximate cause of Plaintiff's injures," the court document states.

According to court records, Munoz is seeking monetary damages ranging between $250,000 and $1 million for physical suffering, disfigurement and impairment as a result of the event.

Additionally, he is seeking damages for lost wages, medical care, and exemplary damages.
