A Florida woman is suing a Southwest Houston hotel for injuries she claims she sustained during a visit to the area earlier this year, according to Harris County District Court records.

Rosa Brown has filed a lawsuit against Texas Pearl Inc., a company that owns and runs American's Inn in Houston, Texas at 10552 Southwest Fwy. for injuries that occurred as a result of a defective elevator.

According to the lawsuit, Brown experienced injuries to her head, back, legs, and other portions of her body after accidentally falling in an elevator on January 25, 2022.

"Plaintiff slipped and fell inside an elevator due to a malfunction of Defendant's elevator."

In her lawsuit, Brown accuses the hotel of negligence by failing to properly notify guests about possible safety hazards, provide enough security and complete necessary inspections in her lawsuit.

"Defendants acted with flagrant and malicious disregard of Plaintiff's and others' health and safety," the suit asserts," the lawsuit states, "It demands monetary damages of more than $1 million in addition to a jury trial."

Brown is seeking more than $1 million in financial compensation for her injuries, as well as emotional distress, disfigurement, and other health issues.
