HOUSTON — An opera singer alleges the Houston Grand Opera has failed to allow her to perform per her contract.

Soula Parrassidis filed a complaint April 12 in Harris County District Court against Houston Grand Opera Association Inc., alleging breach of contract.

Parrassidis, according to her suit, entered into a contract with the Houston Grand Opera to perform as "first lady" in the German opera "Die Zauberfloete." She alleges the contract stated she would be paid $46,000 for six separate performances as part of her debut in the U.S. and that she performed the part in the opera during February of 2022.

Parrassidis claims the Houston Grand Opera failed to pay her for her performance and that she has suffered expense, loss of reputation and loss of artistic opportunity. She alleges the Houston Grand Opera is in breach of contract and that they have failed and refused to allow her to perform her work "in the agreed upon manner." She is asking the court to have the Houston Grand Opera enable her to complete her series of debut performances per the contract.

Parrassidis seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Jared Woodfill and Kyle Pinkerton of The Woodfill Law Firm PC.
