HOUSTON — A wellsite worker who was injured when a pipe sprung loose and sprayed fluid onto his face is claiming negligence.
Uriel Tehy filed a complaint April 19 in Harris County District Court against XTO Energy Inc., and XTO Delaware Basin LLC alleging negligence.
Tehy, according to his suit, was working at an XTO wellsite near Carlsbad, New Mexico on March 3, 2022. He alleges that as he was dislodging a pipe wrench, the fitting sprung loose, hit his glasses and hard hat and released fluid that sprayed onto his face which caused him to fall backward.
Tehy claims as a result of the accident, he suffered pain, loss of earning capacity, impairment, disfigurement and incurred medical expenses. He also claims in his complaint that the defendants were negligent for failing to maintain, repair and inspect the well site and for failing to follow safety standards or warn of the dangers and risks at the well site. Tehy also claims XTO's negligence for failing properly hire, train and supervise its contractors and agents or take reasonable care while directing and controlling the work being done the rig.
Tehy seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Todd Hunter, Jr., Stuart White and Kevin Liles of Liles White PLLC in Corpus Christi.
