HOUSTON — A Houston bar patron alleges he was assaulted by a bouncer and suffered a dislocated ankle.
John Thomas Hopkins filed a complaint April 25 in Harris County District Court against Barbarella Houston alleging negligence, assault and other claims.
Hopkins alleges in his complaint that he was a patron at Barbarella Houston on San Jacinto on April 9. He claims that after an hour, he was standing outside the bar when a bouncer instructed him to leave the premises. Hopkins further claims the bouncer than "violently" kicked him in the leg and caused him to suffer a dislocated ankle.
He alleges that the Barbarella Houston has a reputation for its aggressive, rude and violent treatment of its patrons by bouncers and cited numerous Google reviews of the bar that allege physical assault and aggressive behavior by its staff.
Hopkins claims the bar's negligence for failing to keep patrons safe from assault by its employees, failing to properly train its employees on illegal assault of patrons and for failing to monitor and maintain its security cameras. He also claims as a result of his injuries, he suffered impairment, lost wages, mental anguish and incurred medical expenses.
Hopkins seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Ralph Manginello of The Mangienello Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
