HOUSTON — A motorcyclist alleges a defective rear tire caused him to crash into a concrete barrier on Interstate 45 in Houston.

Daniel Infante filed a complaint April 28 in Harris County District Court against Jamond International LLC doing business as Global Motorsports and Smeets International Inc., doing business Global Motorsports.

Infante claims in his suit that he was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle on Interstate 45 in Houston on Nov. 5, 2020. He alleges that the motorcycle suddenly went into an "uncontrollable wobble" and caused him to lose control and strike a concrete barrier. Infante claims the wobble was caused by a defective rear tire, which was manufactured by Shinko, distributed by Michelin and which he purchased and had installed on his bike by Jamond and Smeets about 14 days prior to the accident.

He alleges the defendants' distribution, installation and maintenance of the defective tire caused the accident and that they negligently failed to properly inspect and service the tire. He also claims the defendants failed warn of the danger or properly train its staff with the installation, inspection and service of the subject tire.

Infante seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Jason Webster, Heidi Vicknair and Christian Tovar of The Webster Law Firm in Houston and Jon Alworth of The Alworth Law Firm in Houston.
