HOUSTON — A guest at a Homewood Suites in Beaumont claims a leaky AC unit in her room caused her slip and fall.

Demetrice Folse filed a complaint May 29 in Harris County District Court against Homewood Suites, Shree Gayatri Inc., and Pride Management Inc., alleging negligence.

Folse, according to her complaint, was a guest at the Homewood Suites at I-10 South in Beaumont. She alleges the AC unit in her room malfunctioned and caused water to leak onto the carpet and the bottom of her shoes to become wet. She claims as she walked from the carpet to the tiled part of her room, she slipped and fell and suffered "severe and debilitating" injuries.

Folse alleges the defendants' employees negligently allowed the dangerous condition to exist on the premises and that they failed to warn her of the hazard. She further alleges that as a result of the slip and fall, she suffered pain, disability, mental anguish, lost earnings, impairment and incurred medical expenses. Folse also alleges the defendants knew or should have known the dangerous condition existed and that their employees failed to exercise ordinary care.

Flose seeks monetary relief of less than $250,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Adam Criaco of Criaco & Associates in Houston.
