Injured maintenance worker claims Kinder Morgan failed to properly maintain its meter pole

RICHMOND – A Richmond man is suing Kinder Morgan Inc., claiming that he was servicing a meter pole belonging to the company when it snapped, causing him to fall and suffer serious injuries.

Plaintiff Joshua Cook filed a lawsuit in the Harris County District Court against Kinder Morgan Inc., and Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America LLC, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 23, 2021, Cook was performing maintenance on a meter pole located that he believed to be operated by the defendants. The plaintiff says that when he reached the top of the pole and tied his safety harness, the pole snapped causing him to fall 18 feet and hit the ground, causing him serious injury. 

The complaint alleges that Kinder Morgan was grossly negligent for failing to ensure the pole's structural integrity and safety. 

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $1,000,000, plus interest, court costs, and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorneys Muhammad S.
