Woman sues after falling from raised booth at Sushi King

Lawsuits

HOUSTON — A woman who fell while exiting a raised booth at a Sushi King in Houston and suffered injuries is claiming liability.

Sandra Wilder filed a complaint July 11 in Harris County District Court against Kaneyama of Texas LP.

Wilder was at the Sushi King restaurant on Kirby Drive in Houston on Nov. 1, 2021. She alleges that a Sushi King employee directed them to one of the booths in the rear section of the restaurant. She further alleges that as she exited the booth, she "violently" fell and crashed onto the hard flooring.

Wilder claims the Sushi King attendant did not warn or caution about the raised booth and the single step rise to the booth. She alleges Sushi King failed to exercise reasonable care to eliminate the risk and that the single step raised booth hazard had been present long enough for the restaurant to have known about it and provide warnings.

Wilder claims as a result of her fall, she suffered "severe and substantial injuries, mental anguish, medical, surgical and pharmaceutical expenses, impairment and disfigurement."

Wilder seeks monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Steve Couch of Sutter & Kendrick PC in Houston.
