HOUSTON — A Marriott employee alleges she faced retaliation after reporting a supervisor who assaulted her.
Charlotte Paliwoda filed a complaint July 17 in Harris County District Court against Marriott International alleging hostile work environment, retaliation, negligence and other claims.
Paliwoda, according to her complaint, was working for Marriott as a bartender on Dec. 5, 2016. She claims that her supervisor forcefully and unlawfully grabbed her chest and that she immediately reported the incident to the company. Paliwoda alleges that after she reported the assault, her hours began to be cut, she was written up for unwarranted disciplinary actions, lost a promotion and that she was not allowed to take leave or trade shifts.
She further alleges similarly situated male employees and employees who did not complain about assault were not treated this way. Paliwoda claims Marriott's negligence for failing to train Kim and that the defendants' actions caused her to suffer physical pain, lost wages. She further claims Marriott was aware of the supervisor's actions and failed to do anything to prevent future attacks and that they discriminated against her based on her sex.
Paliwoda seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Emily Frost of Frost Domel PLLC in Austin.
