BEAUMONT - A lawsuit is alleging a truck driver for Peryn Heavy Haul failed to pay attention and smashed into a golf cart, causing serious and permanent injuries to the golf cart operator. 

Plaintiff John Decquire filed the lawsuit on July 21 in Jefferson County District Court. 

According to the lawsuit, on July 12 Decquire was working for Kinder Morgan at the Valero Plant in Port Arthur. He was operating a golf cart while on the premises in a safe and reasonable manner when suddenly and without warning the defendant’s driver failed to pay attention to the roadway and smashed into the golf cart.

The defendant’s driver was operating an 18-wheeler when the golf cart was struck. As a result of the defendant’s negligence, the plaintiff was seriously and permanently injured, the lawsuit states. 

The plaintiff seeks more than $1 million in damages and is suing for the recovery of past and future medical expenses, pain, mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement and loss of earning capacity.  

The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Cody Dishon and Samantha Leifeste of The Ferguson Law Firm in Beaumont.
