GALVESTON — General Motors is facing a suit from a consumer claiming their refusal to honor the warranty on a defective Chevrolet Silverado.

Richard Williams filed a complaint Aug. 19 in Galveston County District Court against General Motors LLC alleging breach of written warranty and breach of implied warranty.

Williams alleges in his complaint that he purchased a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado on April 24, 2020, for $34,984. He claims the vehicle came with a three year or 36,000 mile bumper to bumper, five year or 60,000 mile powertrain coverage and other warranties. Williams alleges the Silverado had a defective transmission which caused "jerking" when shifting, vibration at 45 to 65 MPH and other defects. He claims General Motors has refused to provide him with remedies or comply with its written warranty which has caused him to suffer damages.

Williams also claims General Motors has violated the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act for its failure to honor the warranty and provide a vehicle free of defects in material and workmanship.

Williams seeks monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by John Barker and Richard Williams of Krohn & Moss LTD in Chicago, Illinois.
