HOUSTON — The family of a man who died after a fall from a parking garage at a casino is alleging low railing contributed to his fall.
Tequalla Randle filed a complaint Oct. 20 in Harris County District Court against Tilman Fertitta, Landry's Inc., and Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel & Casino alleging negligence.
According to the plaintiffs' complaint, Tequalla Randle, the widow of Julian Randle, checked into the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino Lake Charles with her husband on Feb. 12, 2022. She claims her husband fell from the third floor in the parking lot and sustained fatal injuries.
The plaintiffs claim that the defendants failed to have enough security and personnel on the property and that a low railing in the parking garage caused Randle's fall. They further claim that having the low railing in the parking garage of an establishment that serves alcohol "was a bad combination" and that the defendants breached their duty of reasonable care. The plaintiffs claim the defendants also created the potentially dangerous condition with the low height of the railings or concrete barriers in the parking garage.
The plaintiffs seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Gabriel Giwa of Gabe Giwa & Associates in Houston.
