HOUSTON – A pregnant woman alleges her slip and fall was caused by backed up plumbing that flooded the restroom.

Jazmine Powell filed a complaint Oct. 25 in Harris County District Court against Boxer Property Management Corporation alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to Powell's complaint, she was at Boxer Property Management's premises on March 4. She claims she was five months pregnant at the time, and that the building's plumbing was backed up which caused portions of the floor to be flooded in the restroom. Powell further claims she slipped and fell on the wet floor and began to have pain in her legs, hips, thighs and stomach which increased the risk of complications for her pregnancy.

She alleges the defendant's negligence for failing to maintain its premises in a safe manner and for failing to train and supervise its employees. Powell also alleges the defendant failed to have policies and procedures in place to protect invitees and failed to clean up the dangerous condition or place barriers in the area to warn of the hazard. She claims she has also suffered impairment, mental anguish and incurred medical expenses as a result of her slip and fall.

Powell seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Brian Crockett of Crockett Law PC in Houston.
