Jones Day earns "Most Recommended" law firm status for 20th consecutive year

Jones Day has been chosen as one of the law firms most recommended by clients to their peers for the 20th consecutive year, the only law firm to achieve this sustained consistency. The honor is based on unprompted responses from in-depth interviews with more than 340 top legal decision-makers conducted by BTI Consulting Group for its annual survey, "The Firms Top Legal Decision Makers Recommend Above All Others."

Jones Day garnered the coveted unprompted recommendation, which BTI considers "the highest standard" as the best and most reliable source of law firm intelligence, from top legal decision-makers at large organizations with at least $700 million in revenue representing more than 15 industry segments.

BTI explains in the Most Recommended Law Firms report for 2022: "Virtually every top legal decision-maker talks to a peer for recommendations when first thinking of hiring a new law firm. Or they remember the glowing remarks a peer shares during a conversation. Either way—unsolicited peer recommendations drive hiring as no other activity can. More than two-thirds of these decision-makers hire the first firm recommended—even on one unsolicited recommendation—such is the power of the unsolicited recommendation."

The Report also explains: "Superior client service is consistently the leading driver of law firm recommendations by General Counsel," driving unprompted recommendation by a factor of nearly four times more often than any other single factor. This year's BTI survey cited that 40% of the top legal decision-makers “include the ability to understand their business as a key component of client service.”

The BTI Most Recommended Law Firms survey is a data-driven ranking based solely on in-depth telephone interviews with leading legal decision-makers. This research is independent—no law firm or organization other than BTI sponsors this study. No law firm or attorney submits nominations or provides client names to BTI.

BTI Consulting has also ranked Jones Day No. 1 in its "Client Service A-Team" survey for the past six years and 14th time since BTI has been publishing its results, and among the "Fearsome Foursome"—the law firms that clients would least like to see as opposing counsel—in its "BTI Litigation Outlook 2023" report for the ninth time and third consecutive year.
