HOUSTON — A mother is alleging her son's fatal shooting near a Shell Gas Station and an apartment complex in Houston was due to lack of security.

Gloria Pullam, individually and as administrator of the Estate of Satisfied Demarcus Landry, filed a complaint Dec. 23 in Harris County District Court against Marquis Asset Management Inc., Wesley Square Apartments LLC and Shell Gas Station alleging premises liability, negligence, wrongful death and other claims.

Pullam's son Satisfied Demarcus Landry was at the Shell Gas Station on Cullen Boulevard in Houston on Nov. 12, 2022, according to her complaint. She alleges that Landry got into a "long argument" with another gas station customer which was heard by the gas station employees and managers. Pullam claims that the other customer threatened Landry's life several times during the argument and then stood on the Wesley Square Apartments premises and fatally shot Landry as he exited the store.

She alleges that the defendants knew of the frequent violent criminal activity in the area and that the Shell employees did nothing to intervene when Landry was threatened. Pullam also alleges the defendants knew there was a lack of security on their premises which created a dangerous condition. She claims the defendants were also negligent for failing to take steps to reduce or eliminate the risk of harm.

Pullam seeks monetary relief of more than $10 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Taft Foley, II of The Foley Law Firm in Houston.
