Five shareholders at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Johnine P. Barnes, Lori G. Cohen, Ernest LaMont Greer, Karen M. Kennard, and A. Michael Pratt, are recognized in Lawdragon’s 2023 “500 Leading Lawyers in America.”
Barnes, chair of the Washington, D.C. Labor & Employment Practice, is recognized by Lawdragon as a Leading U.S. Corporate Employment Lawyer. She is nationally recognized by TheLegal 500 United States for her counseling and compliance practice regarding employment laws, including but not limited to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other federal and state statutes governing employment issues. She is experienced in litigating and defending employment claims of harassment, retaliation, discrimination, wrongful discharge, and breach of contract, as well as business litigation matters.
Cohen is vice chair of Greenberg Traurig and also serves as co-chair of the firm’s Global Litigation Practice, leading a group of over 600 attorneys nationally and internationally. She is also co-chair of the Trial Practice Group, her “brain child” that she created at Greenberg Traurig. Upon joining the firm, she also built the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Health Care Litigation Practice. Under Cohen’s leadership, this practice rose through the ranks and grew to include over 150 attorneys in more than 30 offices in the United States and globally. In 2022, the firm was named Law360’s “Product Liability Litigation Department of the Year” for the second year in a row.
Greer is co-president of Greenberg Traurig and one of few Black executives at a firm ranked in the AmLaw Top 20. Greer also serves as chairman of the Washington, D.C. office. Greer is highly regarded for his approach to business, mentorship, diversity, and philanthropic efforts. Most recently, he received the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Anti-Defamation League Southeast, was inducted into the 2022 Junior Achievement Atlanta Business Hall of Fame, won the 2021 Legacy Award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, was named the 2021 CEO of the Year by The Atlanta Business League.
Kennard is a co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Austin office and a shareholder in the Government Law & Policy Group. She focuses her practice on government law, policy, and regulatory matters with an emphasis on municipal local government issues. Kennard’s experience spans more than two decades and includes positions as city attorney for the City of Austin, Texas, and general counsel for the Texas Municipal League.
Pratt is chair of the Philadelphia Litigation Practice, a former chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association and a leader in Philadelphia’s legal community. He is a highly accomplished litigator with decades of experience representing major corporations, institutions, and governmental entities in the most complex and business sensitive commercial and product liability disputes. His practice also focusses on government law and policy.
