Ferguson Law Firm adds Claire Brown and Cullen McDonald to stable of attorneys

BEAUMONT – The Ferguson Law Firm has announced two additional attorneys are joining the law firm with Claire Brown and Cullen McDonald both joining in late 2022, a press release states.  

Paul ‘Chip’ Ferguson, managing partner of Ferguson Law Firm, said, “Adding the two lawyers to our roster continues our expansion and growth as a law firm.  Claire and Cullen ensure that our team of lawyers is both deep and wide. They are excellent additions to an already excellent law firm.” 

Claire Brown brings a strong background of both academic and practical experience to The Ferguson Law Firm. This includes her work as United States District Court Law Clerk for the Eastern District of Texas for both Judge Ron Clark and Judge Michael Truncale, and as a legal intern for the Texas First Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas.


McDonald | Ferguson Law Firm

Brown graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University (2017) then attended Texas A&M University School of Law where she graduated summa cum laude and third in her graduating class (2020). She was honored with membership in the Order of the Coif and received multiple awards such as Equal Justice Award (most pro bono hours in graduating class), Margolies Award (summer pro bono internship) and Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans Law Student Volunteer Award. While in law school, Brown was also a member and Citations Editor for the Texas A&M Law Review.

Her work during and after law school showcases her strong commitment to helping others.  She interned for Legal Aid of Northwest Texas/Community Revitalization Project, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Following graduation, Brown served as a law clerk for two United States District Judges then became a Staff Attorney/Equal Justice Works Fellow for Catholic Charities Dallas (providing immigration representation).  She joined The Ferguson Law Firm in September 2022.

Ferguson said of Brown, “She brings an exacting intellect to our law firm.  Claire’s writing skills are razor sharp; no doubt honed by her experience with two federal judges.  Her ability to analyze legal issues adds a new dimension to the representation of our clients.  She will make all of us better and more productive attorneys.” 

P. Cullen McDonald brings, along with his strong academic credentials, an athlete’s competitive spirit to The Ferguson Law Firm.  Cullen attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he earned Dean’s List recognition.  Cullen was also an NCAA Division 1 pitcher for the NSU Demons’ baseball team. Besides excellence on the diamond, Cullen earned recognition for being listed on Southland Conference Honor Roll. 

Upon graduation, McDonald then attended Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University where he earned his J.D., Magna cum laude, in 2022.  He was the Senior Editor for Louisiana Law Review (Vol. 82) and a member of the LSU Law Board of Advocates.  He received a Paul M. Hebert Scholar Award, Dean’s Scholarship Award, and CLI Excellence for the Future Award for both Estate Planning and Taxation, and Maritime Torts.  He also received the Chancellor’s Council Tullis Moot Court Award.

While at LSU, Cullen served as a legal intern for United States District Judge Shelly D. Dick.  He was also the published author of McDonald, P.C.; The Qui Tam Question: Proper Pleading Requirements for Relaters Under the FCA, 82 La. L. Rev. 359 (2021). He joined the Ferguson Law Firm in September 2022.  

Ferguson said of McDonald, “I knew Cullen when he was much younger and his father was the baseball coach at West Brook High School.  Next thing I knew, this impressive applicant walks into my office and it’s the same kid all grown up. I hired him on the spot. Cullen is bright and is going to be an excellent trial lawyer. I look forward to watching him develop.”

The Ferguson Law Firm continues its representation of each client to the best of our ability from their principal office in Beaumont, Texas. The firm has just concluded another record-breaking year on behalf of their clients and look forward to an even better 2023, the press release states.
