HOUSTON —A couple claim movers failed to deliver all of their belongings and damaged their personal property during a cross country move.
Shannon Owens and Peyton Bowen filed a complaint Feb. 21 in Harris County District Court against American Moving Experts LLC, Spartan Moving Plus LLC, Yarley Cedeno and Will Villalta alleging violation of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
The plaintiffs, according to their complaint, hired the defendants for a cross country move from Colorado to North Carolina in June of 2021. They allege that the defendants failed to deliver all of their items and also damaged several of their items. The plaintiffs claim that they entrusted the defendants with tens of thousands of dollars worth of their personal property and that the defendants falsely represented their goods and services were of a certain quality. They also claim the defendants' actions caused them $7,921.20 in economic damages.
The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of $250,000 or less, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Joseph Melugin of The Melugin Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
