Foley & Lardner LLP Partner Scott Ellis has been appointed to a two-year term on the Board of Directors of the Houston Bar Association’s Houston Volunteer Lawyers, effective June 1, 2023.

Ellis was selected for this leadership role based on his experience and demonstrated support of the Houston Bar. Ellis is heavily involved with the Houston Bar, serving as the co-chair of its Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and as the managing partner of Foley’s Houston office, he stewards the office’s robust dedication to the local business and civic communities.

Houston Volunteer Lawyers is the largest provider of pro bono legal services in Harris County and the surrounding areas. Founded in 1981 by the Houston Bar Association, Houston Volunteer Lawyers has delivered free legal services to low-income residents for over 40 years by linking qualified applicants with attorneys who volunteer their time on a pro bono basis. Houston Volunteer Lawyers helps many individuals that other programs often cannot serve, such as those who may not meet the financial criteria of other legal assistance programs and non-US citizens. Over 3,000 attorneys volunteer each year, making a difference in the lives of low-income clients, their families, and communities.
