HOUSTON — A woman alleges an apartment complex failed to repair an uneven sidewalk which caused her to trip and suffer serious injuries.

Dolores Bishop filed a complaint May 22 in Harris County District Court against Canfield Lake Apartments and others alleging negligence and other claims.

Bishop was at the Canfield Lake Apartments' property on June 20, 2021, according to her complaint. She claims that she suffered serious injuries after tripping and falling over an uneven sidewalk.

Bishop alleges the defendants were negligent for failing to inspect, correct and repair the sidewalk and for failing to warn of the dangerous condition. She also claims the defendants' negligence for failing to properly maintain the premises and allowing the sidewalk to become uneven to the point that it was a tripping hazard.

Bishop alleges the defendants negligently allowed and created the obstruction to safe walking and failed to maintain a safe environment. She further alleges she suffered impairment, disfigurement, lost wages and incurred medical expenses as a result of her fall.

Bishop seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Carlos Hughes, Jr. of The Hughes Law Firm in Houston.
