HOUSTON — A Houston Metro bus passenger who was thrown from his handicap seat is claiming negligence.

Cleveland Jackson Jr., filed a complaint June 27 in Harris County District Court against Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County Texas alleging negligence.

According to his complaint, Jackson was a passenger on a Metro bus in Houston on May 31, 2022. He claims he was sitting in the handicapped seat on the bus when the driver took a sharp left turn "at a high rate of speed" which caused him to fall and crash "violently" onto the floor.

Jackson claims the bus was not operated in a reasonably attentive manner. He alleges as a result of the accident, he suffered pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, diminished earning capacity and incurred medical expenses.

Jackson seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Steven Norris of Miller Law LLP in Houston.
