GALVESTON — A Doordash employee is alleges the company's negligence and a dog owner's negligence after being attacked by an unsecured dog during a delivery.
Joseph Morquecho filed a complaint July 24 in Galveston County District Court against Doordash and John Doe alleging negligence.
Morquecho, according to his complaint, was delivering food for Doordash on April 22 to Doe's residence. He alleges Doe had a dog outside of his house that was tied to a cable with an unknown length. Morquecho further claims he purposely parked a reasonable distance way from the dog but once he exited his vehicle and approached the residence, the dog rushed him quickly and chased him down.
He alleges during the chase, the dog bit him and caused him to suffer serious injuries. Morquecho claims Doordash's negligence for failing to protect against work-related hazards and negligently training and supervising their employees. He also claims Doe was aware of the dog's propensity to attack and was negligent for failing to properly control and secure the dog. Morquecho alleges he suffered impairment, disfigurement and incurred medical expenses as a result of the attack.
Morquecho seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Michael Grinsfelder of The Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
